Edmund Optics Acquires Quality Thin Films

BARRINGTON, N.J., Nov. 10, 2020 — Edmund Optics announced its acquisition of coatings specialist Quality Thin Films Inc. Quality Thin Films is located outside Tampa, Fla.

As part of the acquisition, Karl George Sr., president and CEO of Quality Thin Films, will retire. Karl George Jr. will continue to oversee the company's primary facility and its 30 employees.

optical filters
An optical element that blocks or transmits a selected wavelength of light. Optical filters can either be absorption filters or interference filters. Absorption filters absorb any unwanted wavelengths while the interference filter will use the effects of constructive and destructive superposition to transmit only the selected wavelength.
