Elbit Secures $76M+ in Contracts for IR Countermeasures, Tactical Systems from Asia-Pacific Clients

HAIFA, Israel, Dec. 16, 2015 — Elbit Systems Ltd. said it has been awarded a contract to supply its C-MUSIC commercial multispectral IR countermeasures systems for implementation on board wide-body jet aircraft. It will also fulfill a contract worth $50 million to supply an Asia-Pacific country with its ISTAR tactical systems.

The C-MUSIC client is a country in the Asia-Pacific region, and the two-year contract is valued at $26.5 million.

C-MUSIC is based on Elbit's directed IR countermeasures systems for fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. The system uses fiber laser technology to protect midsize and large airliners against heat-seeking shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles.

Elbit has also secured a contract with a country in the Asia-Pacific region to supply its airborne intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) systems.

The contract will be performed over three years and will further develop the customer's existing intelligence and surveillance capabilities by upgrading Elbit Systems' already-deployed, long-range electro-optical cameras and sensors, and supplementing them with Elta Systems Ltd.'s advanced SAR/GMTI reconnaissance systems.

In addition, the installations will provide the ability to perform advanced functions such as mission planning, battlefield management, terrain analysis and simulation modeling, both before and during intelligence-gathering operations.
