The ninth annual euroLED exhibition, gala dinner and conference attracted more visitors than ever. At the exhibition – which was sponsored by Philips, Arrow Electronics and PurEcoLED – 95 companies showcased their latest products. Underwriters Laboratories (UL) sponsored the technical conference, which brought in keynote speakers from across Europe. The dinner was sponsored by UK Trade & Investment, and Total Lighting was the euroLED 2012 media partner.

“With a record number of visitors to euroLED 2012, we could not be more excited about the show’s potential for next year – our 10th birthday,” said Michelle Cleaver, Birmingham Science Park’s head of euroLED.

“To build up the momentum and fuel further debate about the unprecedented growth in the LED lighting sector, we will be holding kicker events over the next 12 months at Birmingham Science Park, with fantastic speakers who are at the forefront of industry innovations.

A wide range of products was on display at the event.

“These events will also enable delegates to pay a visit to our acclaimed Optical Performance Centre, which is working with some of the biggest names in LED on research, testing and accreditation, as well as supporting highly innovative startup businesses.”

The euroLED conference lineup for 2012 included Tom van den Bussche, European marketing director for Bridgelux Inc. in France; Dr. Heinz Seyringer, head of research collaborations at Zumtobel Group AG in Austria; Netherlands-based Hideki Kaneguchi, deputy managing director of Nichia Europe; and Dr. Ulrich Steegmueller, vice president and chief technology officer of Osram Opto Semiconductors GmbH of Germany.
