Evans to Lead Sensors, Communications at SA Photonics

LOS GATOS, Calif., April 15, 2013 — Dr. Michael Evans, former senior director at Elbit Systems of America, was appointed vice president of sensors and communications at SA Photonics.

Evans will lead the company as it transitions its photonics solutions to military and commercial markets.

At Elbit, Evans was the international product line director for the sensor and electro-optics division; previously, he was the company’s international program director for turrets and systems in Europe and Asia. Before that, he served as chief engineer and program engineering manager at BAE Systems.

“Mike has worked for more than 30 years in technology development, risk management and product transition for companies such as AT&T Bell Labs, Vicor, Corning, BAE Systems and Elbit Systems of America, where he developed commercial and military hardware systems for the telecommunications, defense and space sectors worth over $7 billion,” said SA Photonics CEO Jim Coward.
