FiberTech USA Inc. is merging with its majority shareholder, Leoni Fiber Optics GmbH of Berlin, this month, the company announced. FiberTech USA produces medical laser probes and fiber optic cable assemblies for laser beam transmission, and fiber tapers and fiber bundles for spectroscopy. Since the end of 2007, FiberTech has been part of the fiber optics business unit of the Leoni group. After the merger, more than 350 employees worldwide will design and produce fiber optic products under the name Leoni Fiber Optics. The FiberTech brand will be retained as a product brand for special fiber, medical laser probes and fiber optical sensor technology products, the company said. The product portfolio of Leoni Fiber Optics is subdivided in to the product lines FiberConnect® for cable solutions, FiberSwitch® for optical switches and Fiber Split® for products using planar waveguide technology.
