Flir Buys Software Firm
WILSONVILLE, Ore., April 9, 2008 -- Flir Systems Inc. announced it has acquired Ifara Tecnologias SL, a provider of software used to create sensor networks, for approximately $11 million.
Based in Madrid, Spain, Ifara develops software and hardware used to create and maintain sensor networks for applications such as security and surveillance, force protection, reconnaissance, and maritime. Ifara's Nexus computer software allows integrated control of a variety of different sensors, including thermal and CCTV cameras, fence and ground sensors, alarm contacts, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and radar. With Ifara's technology, Flir said it will be able to provide its customers with the capability to integrate a wide variety of sensors.
Ifara will operate as a separate business unit within Flir's Commercial Vision Systems div. Flir said it expects Nexus to be integrated into products within its Commercial Vision Systems and Government Systems divisions, while it will also sell Nexus features such as georeferencing and video analytics separately.
