Flir Systems Inc. has named Travis Merrill its new senior vice president and chief marketing officer. In the newly created position, Merrill will lead the company’s global marketing and brand building efforts. Merrill comes to Flir from Samsung Electronics America, where he served as vice president of marketing. He previously held various strategy and marketing roles for Samsung in Korea and the US, as well as various leadership positions at Covad Communications and US West (now CenturyLink). Merrill holds a bachelor’s degree from Wabash College and master’s degrees in telecommunications from the University of Colorado Boulder and business administration from Harvard Business School.
