GSI Starts 2014 with Acquisition, Sale
BEDFORD, Mass., March 13, 2014 — GSI Group has made moves so far this year that executives say fall in line with future strategic goals, including its recent acquisition of Jadak, a provider of optical data collection and machine vision technologies for medical OEMs, for $93.5 million. GSI anticipates that the acquisition will ultimately increase its 2014 gross annual revenue.
GSI also sold its scientific lasers business, Continuum, for $7.5 million to an unspecified buyer. Continuum, based in San Jose, Calif., specializes in YAG lasers, optical parametric oscillators and amplifiers, dye lasers, and diode-pumped and ultrafast systems.
