Gould Receives Navy Award

Gould Fiber Optics of Millersville, Md., received a multimillion dollar Life of Type Buy contract from the US Navy to supply several thousand premium-grade polarization-maintaining fiber splitters through March 2012. The company was selected to support the modernization and life extension of the US Navy’s Trident Missile Guidance System. It has worked with Cambridge, Mass.-based Draper Laboratory, the prime contractor for the modernization of the system, as well as its inertial sensor subcontractor, Honeywell, to develop high-performance optical fiber splitters for fiber optic gyroscopes. Gould manufactures passive fiber optic, planar components and integrated modules for the military, aerospace, sensors and telecommunications industries.
