GrAI Matter Labs, FRAMOS Collaborate on Life-Ready AI for 3D Industrial Vision

GrAI Matter Labs (GML), a developer of brain-inspired ultralow-latency computing solutions, has teamed with global imaging provider FRAMOS to create what the collaborators are calling “Life-Ready AI” for industrial vision platforms. The project is based on FRAMOS’ D435e Industrial Depth Camera and GML’s GrAI VIP (vision inference processor).

The collaboration aims to advance vision application development in areas including robotics, automation, and IoT-connected manufacturing. The collaborators will develop the platforms on GML’s development of brain-inspired computing techniques for enhanced efficiencies, which use FRAMOS’ stereo depth sensing technology for industrial environments through its D435e stereo depth camera. The platform offers full bodied IP66-rated cameras, or board-level modules for integration into industrial designs, both with M12 Ethernet and M8 power connectors, and are enabled with ultralow-latency AI processing for applications such as orientation and tracking for robots, navigation of autonomous transport systems, and others.

The integration of the Life-Ready AI platform and D435 Industrial Depth Camera was showcased at VISION 2021 in Stuttgart, Germany.

Glossary
machine vision
Machine vision, also known as computer vision or computer sight, refers to the technology that enables machines, typically computers, to interpret and understand visual information from the world, much like the human visual system. It involves the development and application of algorithms and systems that allow machines to acquire, process, analyze, and make decisions based on visual data. Key aspects of machine vision include: Image acquisition: Machine vision systems use various...
artificial intelligence
The ability of a machine to perform certain complex functions normally associated with human intelligence, such as judgment, pattern recognition, understanding, learning, planning, and problem solving.
