HORIBA FRANCE SAS, a developer of Raman spectroscopy systems and technology, inaugurated a new site in Loos, France. The facility replaces the company’s former location in Villeneuve d’Ascq. In a press release, HORIBA said the production and R&D site will enable the company to meet the increasing demand for Raman spectroscopy.

The new building will increase manufacturing capacity by 30%, HORIBA said, and will be a technological showcase for all of HORIBA’s present and future customers. The site, with a surface area of 6764 sq m on a 14,500-sq-m parcel, includes R&D and applications laboratories, large production areas (mechanical, optical, electronic), and sales and customer support areas.

raman spectroscopy
Raman spectroscopy is a technique used in analytical chemistry and physics to study vibrational, rotational, and other low-frequency modes in a system. Named after the Indian physicist Sir C.V. Raman who discovered the phenomenon in 1928, Raman spectroscopy provides information about molecular vibrations by measuring the inelastic scattering of monochromatic light. Here is a breakdown of the process: Incident light: A monochromatic (single wavelength) light, usually from a laser, is...
