Hamamatsu, Vizgen Partner on Biomarker Detection

Hamamatsu has established a partnership with Vizgen, Inc, a life sciences company advancing spatial multi-omics. The collaboration integrates Hamamatsu’s MoxiePlex multiplex immunofluorescence imaging system with Vizgen’s pathology-grade reagent and assay portfolio to bring multiplexed biomarker detection into new translational and clinical research applications. According to the companies, the partnership aims to offer a joint solution to eliminate common barriers in multiplex assay development — streamlining validation, simplifying workflow integration, and enabling researchers to focus on acquiring high-fidelity biological insights.

The MoxiePlex platform is designed for high-volume laboratories and offers up to nine-color imaging with high throughput capacity with up to 60 slides per run. Vizgen's InSituPlex assays enable rapid deployment of custom research panels with pre-validated biomarkers, minimizing time-to-data while maintaining specificity and reproducibility. The companies expect the combination to enable research labs to build and refine multiplex assays with greater speed and confidence.

Vizgen and Hamamatsu plan to combine their expertise through validated InSituPlex panels, coupled with MoxiePlex, as an integrated multiplexed proteomic biomarker offering capable of multi-site deployments for translational research and clinical research applications. Among the first use cases for this integrated solution is the deployment of multiplex immunofluorescence panels for clinically relevant research on non-small cell lung cancer specimens.

The partnership is the latest centering on the capabilities of Hamamatsu’s Moxieplex system. In April, the company partnered to integrate PredxBio’s SpaceIQ spatial analytics platform with MoxiePlex to enable basic and translational research for immuno-oncology.

Hamamatsu also partnered with Sirona Dx to streamline the technology evaluation process for MoxiePlex, with Sirona serving as a technology access partner. The partnership allows potential customers to assess MoxiePlex in an accredited laboratory for imaging, staining, and bioinformatics analysis.

Glossary
reagent
A reagent is a substance or compound that is used in a chemical reaction to bring about a specific transformation or to detect the presence or absence of another substance. Reagents are employed in various laboratory procedures, including chemical analyses, organic synthesis, biochemical assays, and diagnostic tests. Reagents can be classified into different categories based on their function or role in a reaction: Reactants: These are substances that are consumed in a chemical reaction to...
biomarker
A biomarker, short for biological marker, refers to a measurable and quantifiable indicator of a biological condition, process, or response. Biomarkers can be substances or characteristics that are objectively measured and evaluated as an indicator of normal biological processes, pathogenic processes, or pharmacological responses to therapeutic interventions. These markers are often used in medical and scientific contexts to assess health status, diagnose diseases, monitor treatment outcomes,...
