Highwave Optical Technologies of Lannion, France, has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire Northlight Optronics, based in Järfälla, Sweden. The company's expertise in passive components combined with Northlight's knowledge of active components will enable it to more fully respond to customer needs. The acquisition also merges Highwave's client base in Europe and Asia with Northlight's presence in North America and blends the companies' component purchasing and Asian outsourcing functions.

Closure of the transaction is subject to approval by Highwave shareholders of their company's acquisition of DA-LightCom.
