IDEX Opens New Optics Center of Excellence
Life sciences and optics technology developer IDEX Health & Science LLC opened its new state-of-the-art facility in Rochester, N.Y., aiming for scalable future growth of its optical components, subsystems, and filters business.
Originally announced in August 2017, the leased, 100,000-sq-ft manufacturing, research, and development facility brings together IDEX Health & Science’s Rochester-based Semrock and Melles Griot businesses that specialize in optical filters, lenses, shutters, and optical assemblies, as well as the manufacturing operations of its Melles Griot Carlsbad, California-based business, specializing in laser light sources and integrated optical systems.
The design of the new Optics Center of Excellence integrates IDEX Health & Science’s different optical technologies and its research and development capabilities that will enable IDEX Health & Science to create a world-class optical coating facility, scale up subsystem manufacturing, and expand optical and subsystem design capabilities.
