ILX Offers Free Laser Reliability Tool

ILX Lightwave, a Bozeman, Mont., developer of laser diode instrumentation and test systems for research, development and manufacturing, is offering version 2.01 of its Laser Reliability Workbook, free Excel-based software to analyze and plot laser diode and LED lifetime data. Up to 100 lifetime data points may be entered. The workbook automatically calculates a best fit line to the data for both Weibull and lognormal probability distributions, probability distribution parameters and times-to-failure. The new version also displays confidence bounds for the life data. Built-in Arrenhius model calculations may be used to estimate time-to-failure at a use temperature. Instructions and five sets of examples are provided.
