InfraRed Imaging Systems Inc. (INRIS) announced that it has received an $812,000 grant from the Ohio Third Frontier Commission, an economic development arm of the Ohio Department of Development.

With the purpose of further developing medical imaging businesses in the state of Ohio, the grant will allow INRIS to complete engineering modifications on its Vascular Viewer product. Once the changes have been completed, the product will be launched commercially.

Working in collaboration with three companies — Astro Manufacturing, entrotech and United Medical Products — INRIS will receive a monetary commitment exceeding $1.1 million.

INRIS produces near-infrared light-based medical imaging devices used to visualize subdermal structures, including veins and arteries.
