FEI Co. of Hillsboro, Ore., announced today that Don R. Kania has been named president, CEO and a FEI board member by its board of directors. Kania, PhD, most recently has been president and COO of metrology and process equipment maker Veeco Instruments Inc., where he has worked since 1998. Prior to that he held technical and general management positions at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory. He is expected to start at FEI in mid-August. Ray Link, FEI's chief financial officer, had served as interim CEO. Fei makes scanning electron microscopes and other tools used in nanobiology, nanoresearch and nanoelectronics.
