Keithley, Zyvex to Work on Nanotech

CLEVELAND & RICHARDSON, Texas, Sept. 17 -- Keithley Instruments Inc., a maker of instrumentation for low-level electrical measurements, and Zyvex Corp., a nanotechnology business, have signed an agreement to work together to develop new solutions for the nanotechnology marketplace.

Keithley said its measurement expertise is critical in nanoscience applications -- nanodevices are extraordinarily small, which means the electrical signals they can produce are typically low. Measuring these signals accurately demands high-sensitivity, high-resolution instruments.

"By drawing on the differing areas of expertise from both organizations, we'll be able to provide solutions that expand the market for both companies by integrating Zyvex's revolutionary probe technology with Keithley's low-level measurement proficiency," said Mark Hoersten, Keithley vice president, business management. "Our engineering and marketing staffs will work together to offer nanotechnology customers powerful new solutions that neither company could provide on its own. We're also confident we'll be providing test solutions no other measurement instrumentation supplier can offer."

nanotechnology
The use of atoms, molecules and molecular-scale structures to enhance existing technology and develop new materials and devices. The goal of this technology is to manipulate atomic and molecular particles to create devices that are thousands of times smaller and faster than those of the current microtechnologies.
