Kentek Corp. acquired fellow laser safety products maker Laser-Professionals Inc., effective Sept. 1. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"For eight years Laser-Professionals Inc. [LPI] has enjoyed a growing relationship with Kentek. We are excited to take the next step in seeing LPI become part of the Kentek family and together provide industry-leading laser safety products and services," said Pat Harris, former LPI co-owner.

Privately owned Kentek was established in 1983. In addition to laser safety products, it provides laser components and accessories for end users in industry, government, research, education and medicine. LPI was founded in 2004. With the merger, "We now bring decades of additional experience building lasers, using lasers, and most importantly, teaching others how to use lasers safely," Kentek said.

"This acquisition will allow even more laser professionals to take advantage of our courses and services through the increased marketing, promotion and sales efforts of Kentek Corporation, while we focus all our efforts on what we do best - providing the highest-quality laser safety training and consulting," said LPI President Johnny Jones.

With the acquisition, Kentek launched Laser Smart Services, which includes laser safety audits, training, consulting, online training and CDRH (Center for Devices and Radiological Health) product certification.
