Kollmorgen Gets $17M

NORTHAMPTON, Mass., June 19, 2006 -- Kollmorgen Corp., Electro-Optical Div., a manufacturer of submarine periscopes, optronics and masts, weapon systems, electro-optical sights and optical sensor platforms, has received a $17.2 million modification to a previously awarded contract, the US Department of Defense announced last week.

The contract, from the US Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command, is for the production of seven integrated submarine imaging systems (ISIS), including on-board repair parts and spares for the SSN 688 class submarine and one ISIS SSGN-class production system, including repair parts, installation and spares.

The integrated submarine imaging system will provide mission critical, all-weather, visual and electronic search, digital image management, indication, warning and platform architecture interface capabilities for SSN 688, SSN 21 and SSGN class submarines. Seventy percent of the work will be performed in Northampton, Mass.; 15 percent in Waterford, Conn.; 12 percent in Manassas, Va.; and three percent in Brattalboro, Vt. The work is expected to be completed by December 2008.
