LIA.jpgThe 181-page volume CLSOs’ Best Practices in Laser Safety is a compilation of laser safety procedures, policies and practical advice created by laser safety experts and certified laser safety officers (CLSOs) from the industrial, medical and academic sectors. The “Best Practices” are based on the standards and regulations of organizations such as the American National Standards Institute, the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the International Electrotechnical Commission. Chapters cover laser inspection, protective equipment, laser safety training programs, laser hazards parameters calculations, nonbeam hazards and accident case histories. A set of PowerPoint training slides on a CD-ROM is included. Laser Institute of America, Orlando, Fla., 2008; $120, LIA members, $140, nonmembers.
