LBNL and 3D Icon Pen Nanocrystal Deal

TULSA, Okla., July 27, 2010 — Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory at the University of California has signed a materials transfer agreement to provide specialized nanocrystals to 3D Icon Corp.

"We have completed and patented the rendering of 3-D applications. Our focus now is to improve the resolution, color and scalability of the images," said Martin Keating, founder and CEO of 3D Icon, which develops volumetric 3-D projection and display technologies.

CSpace, the company’s flagship technology, was designed to provide true full-color, high-resolution volumetric 360 3-D images without any viewing aids, including special glasses. The company says it is the first proven technology of its kind that has no mechanical moving parts.

3-D display systems developed using CSpace will have the potential to enhance significantly such applications as medical imaging, surgical planning, full-body scans, aircraft manufacturing and maintenance, military command and control, baggage and cargo scanning, and entertainment.

3D Icon’s current efforts include discussions with potential partners in furtherance of its goal of aggressively pursuing the commercialization of CSpace in a variety of applications. The company also has launched its first software product, Pixel Precision, which targets the R&D market for developers using Texas Instruments’ DLP line of products.
