GARBSEN, Germany, Dec. 19, 2015 —

LaserMicronics GmbH has added a cleanroom to its production facilities in a push to develop more sophisticated plastic products.

This addition follows the company's move to a new plastic welding branch in Fuerth in June. The cleanroom meets the requirements of ISO Class 5, allowing no more than 100 particles 0.5 μm in diameter per cubic foot in the air.

The new Class 5 cleanroom has two production cells.

Two production cells are equipped with separate goods receipt gates. Exhaust air from the installed laser systems is filtered and blown outside the clean area. A lock with protective clothing ensures that no contamination enters from outside. In addition, the workplaces are equipped with laminar flow units to further reduce the number of airborne particles in the environment of sensitive microfluidics. Depending on cycle time and size, 2 to 4 million parts per year can be manufactured in the cleanroom.

LaserMicronics offers conventional welds with high-hygiene requirements. ClearJoining technology combines similar transparent joining partners without additives.
