Laser Scanners Play Role in Profit Leap at Faro

LAKE MARY, Fla., Oct. 29, 2014 — Citing strong growth of laser scanner sales and the introduction of a new laser probe, 3-D measurement firm Faro Technologies Inc. reported a 122.6 percent increase in earnings in the third quarter.

Net income increased to $11.2 million from $5 million in the third quarter of 2013. Sales totaled $82.2 million, up 20.6 percent from $68.2 million in the previous third quarter.

The company makes measurement systems for inspecting components and assemblies, rapid prototyping, documenting large-volume spaces or structures in 3-D, and surveying and construction, as well as for investigation and reconstruction of accident sites or crime scenes.
