Leonardo DRS Announces Leadership Transitions: People in the News: 11/05/25

ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 5, 2025 — Leonardo DRS's chairman and CEO, William Lynn, will retire after 14 years leading the company. John Baylouny was named president and CEO, as well as a member of the board. Additionally, Frances Townsend was elected board chair. All changes are effective Jan. 1. Baylouny has served for more than 35 years at Leonardo DRS, currently as COO, a position he has held since 2018. Prior to COO, Baylouny served as CTO. Townsend has served as a board director since 2009, as well as the company’s lead independent director. Townsend has experience in leadership positions at Activision Blizzard, MacAndrews & Forbes, as well as the Department of Justice, and as assistant to President George W. Bush for homeland security and counterterrorism, and chair of the Homeland Security Council.

ERFURT, Germany — X-FAB, an analog, mixed-signal, and specialty foundry, announced that CEO Rudi De Winter will step down from his role on Feb. 6, 2026. The board of directors has unanimously appointed Damien Macq, currently COO, as incoming CEO, starting the same day. Subject to shareholder approval, Macq will also join the board of directors. Winter has held the roles of co-CEO and CEO since 2014 and will continue to serve on the board of directors. Macq joined X-FAB in 2023 as COO, previously serving as vice president and general manager at Melexis’ Sense and Light business unit, serving automotive, smart building, and medical markets.

MONTRÉAL — 5N Plus, a provider of semiconductors and performance materials, announced that Richard Perron was appointed president by the board of directors, in addition to his current role as CFO. Part of a CEO succession plan, Perron is expected to assume the role of president and CEO effective May 31, 2026, at which time current CEO, Gervais Jacques, will be appointed to the position of executive chairman of the board. Luc Bertrand, current chairman of the board, will become lead independent director. Perron has been CFO of 5N Plus since March 2014. Before joining 5N Plus, he was CFO and strategy manager for Long Carbon Americas at ArcelorMittal.

GLASGOW, Scotland — III-V Epi, a provider of compound semiconductor wafer foundry services, appointed Saurabh Kumar to strengthen its epitaxial engineering team and increase manufacturing capacity. Most recently, Kumar served as process engineering team lead at Paragraf where he provided technical leadership and mentoring, established yield engineering and failure analysis frameworks, and led process development and tool commissioning strategies for semiconductor fabrication facilities. In previous roles, Kumar served as a senior process engineer at the Huawei Ipswich Research Centre.
