LightPath Receives Optics Industry Award
ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 23, 2012 — LightPath Technologies Inc. is the recipient of an innovation award from the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, the optics maker announced Tuesday.
The annual William C. Schwartz Industry Innovation Award — named in honor of the late Orlando business pioneer and optics and photonics innovator — recognizes companies that have a significant impact on the region through innovative practices, products or ideas.
LightPath said it received the honor for its pioneering work in developing infrared optics manufacturing technologies. For the past 25 years, the company has worked in the visible optics market to develop a low-cost manufacturing technique for producing infrared optics.
Applications for this technology have grown significantly over the past 10 years in various markets, which are expected to generate over $20 billion in system-wide sales in 2014.
