LightWorks Optics Inc. of Tustin, Calif., has been given a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research Grant by the US Department of Health and Human Services of the National Institutes of Health. The $349,861 grant will fund the company’s work to develop a technology that integrates pulsed laser microbeam irradiation and polymer microdevices, which could have applications in single-cell selection, isolation and expansion.
