Linear stages
Available from PI (Physik Instrumente) LP, the 29-page brochure “Miniature Precision Linear Stages” specifies compact and subcompact positioning stages that feature submicron and subnanometer precision and closed-loop feedback with linear encoders and capacitive gauges. Downloadable from the company’s Web site, it presents palm-size ball-screw-driven stages with servo- and stepper motors and thumbnail-size piezo-motor-driven stages for volume applications. High-speed stages with voice-coil motors, ultrasonic motors and piezo flexure drives are detailed, as are nonmagnetic and vacuum-compatible versions. The devices have applications in microscopy and biotechnology.
