Lumera Laser Becomes Coherent Kaiserslautern

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany, April 18, 2013 — Lumera Laser GmbH has officially changed its name to Coherent Kaiserslautern GmbH, the company announced this week.

Coherent purchased the privately held business in December 2012. (See: Coherent Acquires Lumera Laser for $52M) The business makes ultrafast solid-state lasers for microelectronics, materials processing and OEM medical applications.

Franz Josef Walenski, CEO of Coherent Dieburg, will serve as executive director of Coherent Kaiserslautern with Dr. Achim Nebel, formerly Lumera Laser CEO. Dr. Ralf Knappe remains a company officer.

The company has the same physical address in Kaiserslautern, but e-mail addresses will now have an @coherent.com extension.
