Luminent and Fiberxon Become Source Photonics

Source Photonics (sourcephotonics.com) is the new name of Luminent Inc. and Fiberxon Inc., the subsidiaries of fiber optic components maker MRV Communications of Chatsworth, Calif. The name change reflects the combined operation of the companies since MRV acquired Fiberxon in July. Source Photonics will provide optical network transceivers for access, telecommunications and data communications networks. "Selecting a new brand name is an important milestone in the integration of the two companies," said Near Margalit, CEO of Source Photonics. During the transition is being completed, LuminentOIC and Fiberxon product lines and customers will continue to be supported as usual. New products will be introduced under the new brand. MRV also recently signed Graybar as the North American distribute of its product lines including LambdaDriver wavelength divisio multiplex systems, Fiber Driver media converters, Media Cross Connect physical layer testing devices, OptiSwitch metro Ethernet access switches and LX-Series console servers.
