Luminous Computing Names Michael Hochberg President: People in the News: 03/09/22 - 03/23/22

CENTENNIAL, Colo., March 23, 2022 — Blue laser specialist NUBURU appointed Brian Knaley CFO. Knaley has served as CEO at three public companies and has more than 25 years of experience. Most recently he served as CFO for CEA Industries, a provider of architectural, engineering, and mechanical services and products for the controlled environment agriculture market. Before CEA Industries, he served as CFO at Proximo Medical, a startup focused on the commercialization of medical devices.

BOULDER, Colo. — ColdQuanta appointed Chris Wood vice president of photonics technologies and Alex Olivas vice president of software engineering and operations. Wood previously held executive roles at Insight Lidar, Kapteyn-Murnane Laboratories, and Precision Photonics. Olivas joins ColdQuanta from the University of Maryland College Park where he served as a research associate and then faculty specialist. He founded the IceCube Open-Source Organization, a gathering of open-source projects from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Machine learning systems developer Luminous Computing named Michael Hochberg president. Hochberg has founded four companies, all of which have been acquired, including two acquisitions by leading telecommunications companies. Luxtera was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2018. Hochberg most recently was a founder at Elenion, later acquired by Nokia, where Hochberg served as CTO of the optical subsystems business.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Teledyne Technologies announced that Janice L. Hess, president of Teledyne’s engineered systems segment and Teledyne Brown Engineering, will retire July 31. Scott Hall will assume the role of president for the engineered systems segment and Teledyne Brown Engineering March 21. Hess will work with Hall in a consulting role to ensure a smooth transition.

TUCSON, Ariz. — FISBA LLC named Joe Delfino  vice president of sales and business development, and Mark Fink as general manager. Delfino most recently served as vice president of sales and business development in North America for Excelitas. Fink has more than 25 years of experience in the optics industry.
