Mevion, Medphoton to Collaborate on Computed Tomography Technology

Compact proton therapy systems provider Mevion Medical Systems Inc. has announced an agreement with Medphoton GmbH to integrate the ImagingRing, an innovative cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) system for volumetric image guidance, with the MEVION S250i with HYPERSCAN, a pencil-beam scanning proton therapy system.

By adding fully integrated cone beam imaging to Mevion’s suite of in-room image guidance capabilities, Mevion and Medphoton aim to simplify workflow and provide more precise and efficient treatment delivery.

“The agreement with Mevion provides us the opportunity to integrate the industry's most compact proton therapy system, the MEVION S250 Series, with our slim, multi-purpose in-room CBCT system, providing large field-of-view, cutting edge acquisition speed, spatial resolution and outstanding low contrast visibility at very low doses,” said Heinz Deutschmann, CEO and founder of Medphoton. “We believe the products will complement each other and enable clinicians to truly optimize the proton treatments they can provide their patients.”

Mevion Medical Systems is a provider of compact proton therapy systems for cancer care. Medphoton develops radiotherapy technologies.
