MicroLink Devices Awarded $5M for Solar Cells

CHICAGO, July 30, 2010 — MicroLink Devices Inc. has received a $5 million grant from the State of Illinois to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant to product high efficiency, light weight solar cells.

Granted by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), the funding is provided by the US’ American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s Renewable Energy Production Program.

The company’s proprietary epitaxial lift off manufacturing process (ELO) allows its high efficiency solar cells to be more competitive with existing lower efficiency products, said the company.
