Midaz Lasers Founder Michael Damzen Elected OSA Fellow

MichaelDamzen.jpgMidaz Lasers Ltd. founder Michael Damzen has been elected a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA), the company announced today. Damzen, who is also a professor of experimental laser physics at Imperial College London, was cited by OSA for his "contributions to optics and laser physics over more than 25 years through research into nonlinear optics and development of laser technology and through inspired teaching." He was presented with the honor at an awards ceremony June 19 during Laser 2007.World of Photonics in Munich. Imperial College London spinoff Midaz Lasers has created a new form of DPSS (diode-pumped solid-state) laser with advanced coupling and thermal management based on patented technology developed by the college's Photonics group.
