Mouse embryo wins competition

AsWeNikon_1_Kwon-10401-3.jpgGloria Kwon from Sloan-Kettering Institute in New York recently won first place in the 2007 Nikon Small World Photomicrography competition. This image of a double transgenic mouse embryo at 18.5 days old was captured using wide-field microscopy with various lighting conditions under bright-field illumination as well as with green and red fluorescent filters under dark-field illumination. The yolk sac is shown as green and the embryo as red. The rest of the winning images and more information about the competition can be found at
