Mouse embryo wins competition

AsWeNikon_1_Kwon-10401-3.jpgGloria Kwon from Sloan-Kettering Institute in New York recently won first place in the 2007 Nikon Small World Photomicrography competition. This image of a double transgenic mouse embryo at 18.5 days old was captured using wide-field microscopy with various lighting conditions under bright-field illumination as well as with green and red fluorescent filters under dark-field illumination. The yolk sac is shown as green and the embryo as red. The rest of the winning images and more information about the competition can be found at www.nikonsmallworld.com.
