NEWARK, Del., Oct. 17, 2016 — The NanoLIBS handheld laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy analyzer from mobile spectroscopy technology developer B&W Tek Inc. has won the 2016 Excellence in Pharma award in the analysis, testing and quality control category of the CPhI Pharma Awards.

NanoLIBS Analyzer Wins CPhi Pharma AwardThe CPhI Pharma Awards celebrate thinkers and creators breaking new ground in their respective fields. The analysis category focuses on the innovations in technologies, products, processes and services in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals as the world moves toward the complete inspection and verification of incoming raw materials under the Pharmaceutical Inspection Cooperation Scheme.

The NanoLIBS uses elemental analysis for the rapid identification and investigation of incoming raw material salts such as NaCl and KCl. In seconds, the tool provides rapid pass/fail results for material identification against a library of salts based on elemental composition. The device allows companies to quickly implement a ready solution for raw material identification as a complementary tool to the NanoRam handheld Raman spectrometer already in wide use among the industry for the identification and verification of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients and intermediates.

B&W Tek B&W Tek is a mobile spectroscopy solutions company that delivers lab-quality Raman, LIBS and near-IR solutions through user-friendly mobile platforms.
