ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 10 -- William McCreath has joined Melles Griot Optics Group as director of engineering. In his new role, McCreath will manage all product development, optical 
engineering, inspection and testing activities for the group's optical components, systems and coatings, as well as electronic shutters and electro-optic assembly programs. Additionally, he will develop and exploit opportunities involving Melles Griot Optics Group's engineering resources at Melles Griot KK, Tamagawa, Japan.
Most recently, McCreath served as general manager and engineering manager at Ontario-based GSI Lumonics, a supplier of advanced optical components and systems. Prior to that position, he was director of research and development at Raytheon Elcan, where he participated in the development of optical data storage devices and a wide range of advanced, custom optical systems. Earlier, he served as manager of development and optical engineering for Thales Optoelectronics (Pilkington) of Glasgow, Scotland, where he gained extensive experience designing and producing infrared and high-performance visible spectral range optical components and systems.
