Newport PV Lab Offers Wafer Testing

Newport Corp.’s Technology & Applications Center’s photovoltaic lab now offers solar wafer testing and calibration on cells up to 156 x 156 mm.

Endorsed by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation, Newport’s lab can certify the dimensional and electrical performance parameters of photovoltaic cells, including solar reference cells, irradiance sensors, small-area research cells and solar wafers. Calibrations are traceable to the World Radiometric Reference and NIST.

Photovoltaic test services include a calibration certificate that indicates the measured total area of the device, its spectral response and I-V curve, and the electrical performance parameters with stated uncertainties. Measurements are made according to the American Society for Testing Materials standard E948-09.

Glossary
photonics
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
