Candela Corp. of Wayland, Mass., a maker of aesthetic laser systems, announced that the SFDA (State Food and Drug Administration) of China has approved Candela's hair removal GentleYAG and GentleLASE laser systems for sale throughout the People's Republic of China, including Hong Kong. Candela has an exclusive distribution agreement with Chindex International Inc., an independent American provider of western healthcare products and services in the People's Republic of China, to market and distribute Candela's product line.    . . .    San Diego-based Jmar Technologies Inc., a developer of laser-based equipment for imaging, analysis and fabrication at the nanoscale, and the University of Vermont (UVM) have completed beta testing of Jmar's VersaCAM scanning boom microscopy system that has been at UVM's microscopy imaging center in the College of Medicine since June. Clinical pathologists and others have used the system for thick tissue pathology research and studies of whole animal models. Jmar says it plans to provide researchers at the University of Connecticut with a VersaCAM with a florescence option to study cancer intervention therapies in chicken embryos and animals.    . . .    Solid-state lighting product developer Cyberlux Corp. has been selected to make an advanced solid-state LED lighting system for security forces by the US Air Force Air Mobility Battlelab, which promotes new technologies and procedures for air mobility-related combat. Cyberlux, based in Triangle Park, N.C., developed and successfully demonstrated the external portable boundary lighting system for both visible and infrared lighting compatible with night-vision goggles at Fort Dix, N.J. The system, which illuminates an exterior boundary of 250 by 300 ft, will enable Air Force security forces to significantly increase security for its assets, including aircraft while on the ground. It weighs less than 50 lbs, including batteries, and provides lighting for several days on a single charge.
