Nov 2005
Nanopositioning systems supplier PI (Physik Instrumente) of Auburn, Mass., has issued its 2005-06 hard-bound catalog, “The World of Nanopositioning and Micropositioning,” a reference book on the fundamentals of nanopositioning and micropositioning technology. The 500-page publication presents PI’s products and technologies, including nanometrology sensor systems, PiezoWalk linear motors, high-speed scanning mirrors, piezo drivers and photonics alignment solutions. The catalog includes reference material, drawings, specifications, options and ordering information for all PI nanopositioning products and related accessories. (TZ Inc.), the inventor of intelligent fastening technology. Perrine succeeds Chris Kelliher, who was recently promoted to oversee the TZ Limited group of companies as TZ Group CEO. Most recently, Perrine served as marketing general manager for the Mobile and Embedded Devices Div. at Microsoft Corp. Before Microsoft, Perrine was a vice president at Eastman Kodak, responsible for their global retail photofinishing business.    . . .    The Optical Industry Development Association (OIDA), an optoelectronics industry support association based in Washington, DC, has issued a report summarizing the results of its Fiber Optic Sensors Workshop, held in March 2005. The report, available to all OIDA members, includes OIDA's fiber optic sensor roadmap along with analysis of the optoelectronic (OE) sensor market. The purpose of the workshop was to reach industry consensus on OE sensor technologies, competition and potential markets for OE sensors, barriers to overcome and OIDA's role in enhancing industry profitability.
