MONTEREY PARK, Calif., and TOKYO, April 5, 2012 — Silicon photonics manufacturer Kotura Inc. announced that high-tech distributor Nissho Electronics will be the supplier for its entire suite of integrated solutions throughout Japan.

Kotura’s photonic product line includes high-speed, single-channel variable optical attenuators (VOAs), high-speed VOA arrays and wavelength-division multiplexers for 40- and 100-Gb/s data center applications. The company’s photonic chips are based on its micron-scale manufacturing platform currently in mass production and deployed in live networks worldwide. Kotura is approaching one million channels per year currently in production.

The distribution agreement will expand the company’s global customer base and its position in the Japanese market, said Xavier Clairardin, vice president of product marketing and sales at Kotura.
