O’Brien Made Pyreos VP of Sales and Marketing

EDINBURGH, Scotland, Sept. 12, 2017 — Thin-film pyroelectric sensor supplier Pyreos Ltd. has appointed Caroline O’Brien to its newly created position of vice president of sales and marketing.

Caroline O’BrienO’Brien brings more than 25 years of experience in the semiconductor and wider technology market, amassing experience across the business spectrum from startups to blue-chip corporations across the U.K., the U.S. and Asia. Her career has included commercial and executive roles at semiconductor companies including NEC Electronics, Oxford Semiconductor and PLX Technology, now Avago. O’Brien joins Pyreos from audio components developer Tectonic Elements, where she was managing director.

“Caroline is an excellent addition to the Pyreos team, and we’re delighted that she’s come to work with us as we continue to build the company,” said Andrew Wallace, CEO of Pyreos. “Her semiconductor and components experience across both startups and blue chips adds an extra dimension to our sales and marketing. Pyreos exported more that 80 percent of sales in FY16, mainly to Asia, Germany and the U.S. Caroline’s previous work in America and Asia will be key to continuing our export growth.”

O’Brien obtained her bachelor’s degree in electric and electronic engineering from Swansea University and gained a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Bath.

“Pyreos has been on my radar for some time now, so I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to join the team,” O’Brien said. “The company has been turning heads throughout the technology sector with its thin-film pyroelectric sensors, and I’m excited that I’m going to be engaging customers with these components. Pyreos is already operating in a host of countries, including India, China, Japan and Korea, and I’m looking forward to expanding our international footprint.”

Pyreos develops thin-film pyroelectric IR sensors for use in a wide variety of industrial and consumer products.
