OLED Partnership

The Flexible Display Center, a collaboration of government, industry and academia at Arizona State University, has announced that AU Optronics, also of Tempe, is now an industry partner. The two entities will collaborate on the development of mixed oxide thin-film transistors to accelerate the commercial availability of active-matrix organic LED (OLED) flexible displays. These displays have already begun gaining market traction in conventional glass displays for applications such as smart phones because of the color quality they deliver, the company says. The new partnership will focus on bringing the benefits of the displays, which include full-color, full-motion video, to flexible substrates.
