ORLANDO, Fla. — Ocean Insight named Richard Curran president. Curran began his career as a performance engineer at Foster Wheeler Corp. (now Sumitomo SHI FW) and later served as president at Halma plc subsidiaries AAI and Perma Pure LLC.

SILVERWATER, Australia — Semiconductor company and blue laser technology developer BluGlass appointed Samuel Samhan CFO. Samhan has more than 20 years of financial leadership and commercial operations experience. He previously served as COO and CFO at global health platform Digital Wellness.

QUEBEC CITY — Semiconductor developer and optical components provider TeraXion named Mathieu Drolet president. Drolet, who previously served as vice president of engineering and operations, will also become executive vice president of indie Semiconductor, TeraXion’s parent company.

CAMARILLO, Calif. — Semtech Corp., a semiconductor, IoT systems, and cloud connectivity service provider, appointed Mark Lin executive vice president and CFO. Lin previously served as vice president and corporate controller of MKS Instruments, as well as in a variety of accounting and finance roles at Microsemi Corp.

CAMPBELL, Calif. — Metal additive manufacturer Velo3D appointed Michelle Sidwell executive vice president of global sales and business development. Sidwell served as senior vice president of global enterprise business at Salesloft, and has held sales and leadership roles at Adobe, Persado, and Walsworth.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — IEEE Photonics Society named Simon Poole as its recipient of the society’s Industry Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the translation of photonic ideas into successful commercial products and demonstration of entrepreneurial leadership in introducing innovative solutions to the market. Poole has 40 years’ experience in photonics, academia, research, and industry, and he was a member of the team that invented the erbium-doped fiber amplifier.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — SPIE named Qian (Jenny) Du editor-in-chief of Journal of Applied Remote Sensing. Du, the Bobby Shackouls Professor at Mississippi State University, succeeds Ni-Bin Chang, who has held the role since 2014. Du’s research focuses on digital image processing and machine learning and their applications to remote-sensing problems, with expertise on hyperspectral image exploitation.
