Omega Optical Unveils Poster, Catalog
Feb 2009
Omega_Optical-poster.jpgOmega Optical Inc., maker of optical filters and coatings, has revised its award-winning poster, “The Essence of Fluorescence,” which won the Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge in 2005. Measuring 38 × 16 in., it previously listed more than 300 fluorophores but now includes about 130 additional fluorophores, their excitation and emission peaks, and suggested filter sets. Omega also is introducing its 2009 catalog, “Filters for Fluorescence and Life Science Instrumentation.” This document enables customers to search for products in various ways – by group, center wavelength, cut-on, fluorophore or application – and includes application notes, frequently asked questions, a directory of fluorophores and recommended filter sets. optical filters
An optical element that blocks or transmits a selected wavelength of light. Optical filters can either be absorption filters or interference filters. Absorption filters absorb any unwanted wavelengths while the interference filter will use the effects of constructive and destructive superposition to transmit only the selected wavelength.
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
