RICHARDSON, Texas, July 7, 2010 — Optex Systems Holdings Inc. announced that it has received a $2.5 million purchase order for additional M137 panoramic telescopes from the US Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command of Warren, Mich.

Its products have been installed in various US military land vehicles, including the Abrams and Bradley fighting vehicles and light armored and armored security vehicles, and they have been selected for installation on the Stryker family of vehicles. In addition, the company manufactures periscope configurations, rifle and surveillance sights, and night-vision optical assemblies.

panoramic telescope
A telescope so manufactured that the image remains erect and the position of the eyepiece is unchanged as the line of sight is pointed in any horizontal direction.
An optical instrument designed to displace the line of sight in a vertical direction. For submarines and other military uses the periscope is a long tube containing prisms at both ends and intervening imaging and relaying lenses. Several anatomical inspection devices such as cystoscopes, laryngoscopes and otoscopes use similar optical systems, though on a minuscule scale.
An afocal optical device made up of lenses or mirrors, usually with a magnification greater than unity, that renders distant objects more distinct, by enlarging their images on the retina.
