Osram to Acquires LED Engin
Lighting manufacturer Osram Licht AG has agreed to acquire solid-state lighting solutions developer LED Engin Inc.
“LED Engin opens up new opportunities for us to offer our customers tailored specialty lighting solutions,” said Hans-Joachim Schwabe, CEO of Osram’s specialty lighting business unit. “LED Engin products are suitable for a variety of specialty applications, making them an ideal addition to our portfolio.”
LED Engin will be integrated into the professional and industrial applications section of the business unit. The company employs 30 employees and brings in annual sales of $10 million.
“We are excited to join Osram and look forward to expanding our product portfolio and customer reach while continuing to serve our existing valued customers with additional resources,” said David Tahmassebi, CEO of LED Engin.
Osram develops lighting for diverse applications ranging from virtual reality, autonomous driving or mobile phones to smart and connected lighting solutions in buildings and cities. LED Engin develops advanced LED emitters, optic components and light source modules.
