PVJapan 2011 Rescheduled for December

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 21, 2011 — In a joint statement, SEMI and JPEA (Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association) have announced that PVJapan 2011, originally slated for July, will now be held Dec. 5 to 7, 2011. The event will be at Makuhari Messe in Japan.

The event was postponed because of ongoing recovery efforts in the wake of the recent Japanese earthquake and at the request of Japanese government agencies to help conserve energy resources during the summer months.

“The tragic events of March 11, 2011, and the continued recovery efforts have heightened the importance of renewable energy and distributed power generation in Japan,” said Hank Nakagawa, president of SEMI Japan. “We believe that PVJapan 2011 will be an instrumental part of the recovery efforts, raising awareness and visibility of the solar industry and advancing renewed investment and reconstruction.”

Semicon Japan 2011 will be held in the same venue as PVJapan. It is now scheduled for Dec. 7 to 9. The one day overlap will present an opportunity to leverage the similarities of semiconductor and photovoltaic technologies, the organizations announced.

SEMI serves the manufacturing supply chains for the microelectronic, display and PV industries.

With 120 member companies and associations related to solar power generation, JPEA promotes the adoption of PV technology.
