Pemamek System to Be Used in Laser-Arc Welding Study

Savonia University of Applied Sciences will use a hybrid welding station from Pemamek Oy Ltd. to study how laser, arc and hybrid welding methods affect seams in cold-temperature machinery.

Seam qualities will be studied from R&D and production points of view. Four midsize companies have joined the institution’s research project, which will continue through 2016.

"Our target is to reach new levels in welding technology with [the] PEMA welding station," said Kari Solehmainen, project engineer for Savonia. "We have always made our studies bearing in mind the context of application. Companies need to benefit from the studies. And companies have been very keen on participating in our projects, since the benefits are so clear."

The purchase of the welding station was made possible through the European Regional Development Fund.

Pemamek specializes in the design and manufacture of automated welding and production systems, as well as workpiece handling equipment.
